Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat various bacterial infections such as pharyngitis/tonsillitis (throat infections), otitis media (ear infections), sinusitis (infection of the sinuses), gonorrhoea (sexually transmitted disease), Lyme disease, septicaemia (bloodstream infection), meningitis (inflammation of the brain and spinal cord), lower respiratory tract, skin, urinary tract, bone, and joint infections. Bacterial infections are caused due to the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. Infectious or harmful bacteria can make you sick and reproduce quickly in your body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick. Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s does not work against infections caused by the virus, including cold and flu.
Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s is a combination of two antibiotics, namely: Cefuroxime (cephalosporin antibiotic) and Clavulanic acid (beta-lactamase inhibitor). Cefuroxime works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell covering, which is necessary for their survival. Thereby, kills the bacteria. Clavulanic acid works by decreasing bacterial resistance and enhancing the activity of cefuroxime against the bacteria. Together, Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s helps to treat bacterial infections.
Take Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s with or without food. The tablet form of Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s should be swallowed as a whole; do not crush or chew the tablet. The liquid form of Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s should be taken by mouth using the measuring cup provided by the pack; shake the pack well before each use. The dose and duration of Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s can vary depending upon your condition and severity of the infection. Also, it is recommended to complete the course of medicine even if you feel better as it is an antibiotic, and leaving it in between may lead to even severe infection that will, in fact, stop responding to the antibiotic as well (antibiotic resistance). In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
Before starting Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s, please inform your doctor if you have any allergy (against any antibiotic), kidney or liver problems. Do not take Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic-resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. Consult your doctor before taking Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy. Avoid taking Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s if you are breastfeeding as Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s may pass into breast milk. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Cefakind CV 250mg Tablet 10’s to prevent unpleasant side-effects.
