About CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET

CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET belongs to a group of antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, sinuses (sinusitis), throat (tonsillitis, pharyngitis), lungs (bronchitis, pneumonia), and urinary system (cystitis and kidney infections). Infectious or harmful bacteria can make you sick and reproduce quickly in your body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick.

CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET contains Cefixime (antibiotic) and Lactobacillus (beneficial lactic acid-producing bacteria). Cefixime kills the bacterial cell by blocking the chemical (mucopeptides) released by the bacteria’s outer layer (cell wall). In turn, CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET weakens and destroys the bacterial cell wall. It is a broad range of antibiotics that helps in fighting various types of bacteria. Lactobacillus is a beneficial lactic acid-producing bacteria (good bacteria) that supports the growth of friendly bacteria in the intestine, maintaining a healthy balance of microflora in the gut environment. Lactobacillus prevents diarrhea and loss of beneficial bacteria in the intestine lost due to a prolonged intake of CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET. Thus, together CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET helps in the prevention of infections.  CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.

Take CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET with or without food. The tablet form of CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET should be swallowed as a whole, do not crush or chew the tablet. The liquid form of CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET should be taken by mouth using the measuring cup provided by the pack, shake the pack well before each use. The dose and duration of CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET can vary depending upon your condition and the severity of the infection. It is also recommended to complete the course of medicine even if you feel better as it is an antibiotic. Leaving it in between may lead to even severe infection that will, in fact, stop responding to the antibiotic (antibiotic resistance). You may experience certain common side-effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, gas, heartburn, and allergy in some cases. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.  In case of any discomfort, speak with a doctor if you notice any sudden wheeziness, tightness in the chest or throat, difficulty in breathing, swelling of the lips, face, throat, and tongue, STOP TAKING your medicine and go to a doctor immediately.

Before starting CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET, please inform your doctor if you have any allergy (against any antibiotic), kidney or liver problems. Do not take CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic-resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET. As far as it is known, CEFOLAC DT 100MG TABLET may be used in pregnancy. Consideration should be given to discontinuing nursing temporarily during treatment with cefixime.
