CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE belongs to the group of blood pressure-lowering medications called ‘Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitors’ primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and reduce the risk of having a heart attack, stroke or heart failure. High blood pressure is a chronic condition in which the pressure in the blood vessels is high. The blood exerts a high pressure on the walls of blood vessels (arteries), leading to hypertension. Heart failure can occur when your heart is unable to pump blood sufficiently required to the remaining of the body. Heart attack or stroke is the blockage of blood flow to the heart muscle. The blockade usually occurs due to build-up of fat/cholesterol in the coronary artery (supplies blood to the heart).
CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE works by lowering the body’s production of substances that could increase the blood pressure. CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE relaxes and widens the blood vessels making it easier for the heart to pump blood to all parts of the body thereby lowering the raised blood pressure and the reduce the risk of having a heart attack, stroke or heart failure.
Take CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE with or without food. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet, swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Take CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE at the same time every day. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects like headache, dizziness, fatigue, and cough. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. Talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
To treat you condition effectually continue taking CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. Try not to stop taking it on your own as it may cause sudden increase the blood pressure, chest pain or heart attack. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, electrolyte levels and kidney functioning is advised while taking CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE. It would help if you consumed low salt (table salt) and low-fat diet while taking CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE. Avoid taking CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Like all medicines, CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE may cause side-effects, although not everybody experiences them. Headache, nausea, dizziness, weakness, low blood pressure, inflammation of the sinus (sinusitis), shortness of breath, stomach pain, diarrhea, indigestion, skin rash, chest pain, muscle pain and increased levels of potassium in blood are the common side-effects of CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE. Please consult your doctor if you experience any of these side-effects persistently.

Drug Warning
Do not take CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE if you are allergic to any of its contents. Talk to your doctor if you have heart, kidney or liver problems. CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE may sometimes cause a decrease in blood pressure than normal, especially in dehydrated people, are taking diuretics (medicines to treat oedema) and low levels of sodium. Regularly check your blood pressure levels to avoid any risk. Avoid taking CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Talk to your doctor, he/she may prescribe you with alternate medicine. CARDIOPRIL 5MG CAPSULE is not recommended for children below 18 years of age as the efficacy and safety have not been established.
